2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDI: Review

When it comes to European discount cars the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta is the only one left. The 2009 year brought back the wagon and TDi. What is new for Jetta this year? The diesel fueled TDi engine is certified in all 50 states when it comes to emissions. The heated seats and increased stability control and the heated washer taps have been added to the Jetta as standard features.

The navigation system has been upgraded however, this is an optional feature. The upgrade includes a touch screen which is user friendly and a 30 GB hard drive. The Jetta has been for many years in a class of its own. Unlike other economy cars the Jetta is more of a high-end economy vehicle. The boost in power that the Jetta has this year makes this an even better choice. The average driver will find the 24 mpg city and 34 mpg highway impressive although the price of diesel is high at the present time.

A 2.5 liter engine helps with gas usage and holds its own with many other models that are considered economy cars. The higher trims can be likened to the Honda Accord or Nissan Altima. The Jetta will be a find car for those who like the idea of having a high-quality German car but cannot afford one of a more expensive type.

With comfortable seats and plenty of room inside for carrying your luggage, groceries and many other items. The Volkswagen Jetta has standard 16 inch wheels, heated mirrors, keyless entry, power recline, heated front seats and many more features that will be sure to please you. With 10 speakers in the stereo system and a six CD changer, add satellite radio and you are set for cruising.

The Volkswagen Jetta TDi has quite an capacity for hauling considering the size of the car. The interior will fool you because the Volkswagen has always been known as a small car. The roominess and comfort of the seats make this car good for trips as the gas mileage on the highway is quite good.

The Jetta TDi has a 2.0 turbo diesel engine. This vehicle is available starting at $17, 340 with the standard features. The standard safety features include:

Anti-lock brakes

Traction control

Front side airbags

Full-length side airbags

Passenger airbags

When it comes to the interior, the roof line on the inside accommodates various heights of drivers. The rear headroom is not quite as spacious but there is a fair amount of legroom. The rear seat folds down for more trunk room if needed.

The reviews for this car have been positive. The seats are a big issue with most people due to being heated. The diesel is quieter than they expect it to be and those who have taken it on trips say the comfort is superb. The room available for luggage or anything that you may need to transport is impressive as well.

2009 New Year's Resolution: Pursuing Happiness, and Sticking With It

Traditionally, New Year’s represents a time to break old habits or create new ones. Personally, I have never bought into the “New Year’s resolution” antics, but this year is different. In 2009, I want to change my life in a big way. My New Year’s resolution this year is to pursue happiness, set down solid roots, and grow into a better person.

It’s a pretty big goal to change the entire course of my life, without shaving my head or moving to a foreign country! So how do I plan on doing it? By evaluating different key points of my life that could use a little improvement and starting to make changes, one step at a time. Before any course of action can be mapped out, it’s first important to identify what is and is not bringing me sincere happiness. So ask yourself, what makes me happy? Or maybe better yet, what does not make me happy? Even by knowing what does not bring sincere happiness we become a little closer to identifying what does.

Step 1:

Strengthening Faith by Developing a Stronger Spiritual Practice

There is an abundance of information out there looking at the connection between faith and health or faith and well being. Positive thinking; or affirmations is psychologically proven to improve our personal experiences. Spiritual practice can be anything from focusing on breathing to clear the mind, yoga, prayer, meditation. Any act that is done with intention to connect to a force greater than oneself can be coined “spiritual.” Personally I like to combine all of the above, and I am ready to fully convert to Catholicism on my quest for inner peace. I’ve never been baptized and this year I would like to be, to symbolically leave my past behind me and take the first steps into my new life.

Step 2:

Manage my Debt

We’ve all had ups and downs, and 2008 was a series of more downs than ups for my checking account! The economy is unstable and I was not sheltered from unemployment. This year was more a matter of survival than living, and I know I haven’t been alone. In taking small steps I plan to regain control of my debt. I make a modest living, but a little here and a little there will keep away collectors and keep that credit score from shrinking! To protect myself later on down the road, I’m setting aside at least $20 a week for savings. Had I done that in the past, this year would have been much easier!

Step 3:

Strengthen Friendships

Life runs away with me sometimes and I tend to forget to return a call or make one for that matter. It’s hard to be stressed out or upset while laughing, and that’s what friendship is about! After reading

Vital Friends by Tom Rath I began to realize what makes friendships so significant. Tom Rath talks about types of relationships we have and characterizes them. He also refers to a study done in 2004 with the Gallup Panel studying “workplace friendships.” Their research showed “people with at least three close friends at work were 96% more likely to be extremely satisfied with their life.” My take is, if this alone can increase satisfaction with life, then my friendships outside of work have to have the same effect.

Step 4:

Move Out of State

Being 3,000 miles away from my family has lost its appeal. I’ve realized that the lifestyle I desire most isn’t available to me where I’m currently residing. I’ve been half committed in every aspect of my life because in my heart of hearts I’ve had no real intention on staying here. So it’s time for that BIG change to give myself the opportunity to build the kind of life I’ve always envisioned myself having. There is something to be said about being where you want to be, working a stable job, and setting your sights on the future. Personally, I don’t feel I can truly find happiness until I stop fighting my heart.

Step 5:

Staying Focused

“The journey of a thousand miles, begins with a single step” – Lao Tzu

It’s easy to get wrapped up in ideas, but bringing them into fruition is a whole other ball game! By realistically looking at the situation is when obstacles become clear. Instead of seeing them as setbacks it’s important to see them as opportunities. By taking things one step at a time and fully evaluating what is necessary to follow through you are in fact moving forward. Goal setting is a necessary when making such a drastic change. Commitment to your own happiness can be more of a challenge than originally bargained for! Enlist a support network from friends and family to help stay focused, who knows, you may just inspire someone you love to pursue their own happiness!

2010

2010 is finally here.

From 1910, it has been a hundred years.

What happened to the future that we once expected?

The flying cars and jet backs…

Or the talking houses named Jack.

What will happen with this coming year?

Will we be happy, or live in fear?

We’ll see what will happen in 2010.

Knowing…that it will soon end.

2009-2010 NFL Fantasy Football Rookies: Top 10

Some fantasy football leagues, especially keeper leagues have a separate fantasy football draft for the incoming NFL rookies. For those keeper league players looking for an early look at the 2009-2010 fantasy football rookies, this article is for you. The 2008 season saw how valuable NFL rookies can be. Titles were won with Matt Forte, Chris Johnson, Steve Slaton, Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan. The 2009 class does not appear to be as strong but some solid contributors can be found. Here is the top 10 NFL Fantasy Football rookies for the 2009-2010 NFL Season:

1. Knowshon Moreno- RB Denver Broncos

Knowshon Moreno was the top Running Back coming out of college this year. Moreno had over 3300 yards and 32 touchdowns in his two seasons at Georgia. Moreno instantly becomes the top running back on Denver’s roster and new coach Josh Mcdaniels drafted him to be an everydown back. Moreno should be the top Fantasy Football Rookie selected in any fantasy football draft for the 2009-2010 season. Put Moreno in your top 20 for your running back rankings and draft him in the 3rd to 4th round of a any new fantasy football draft.

2. Chris Wells- RB Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals have released Edgerrin James and would prefer to use Tim Hightower as a change of pace back. There appears to be plenty of opportunity in Arizona for Wells to get carries this year. When drafting fantasy football rookies, running backs should always top this list. This year is know different, take Wells as the second rookie selected in your draft and hope for him to win the starting job.

3. Donald Brown- RB Indianapolis Colts

Joseph Addai has broken down with injuries in each of the last two seasons. The Colts were concerned enough about this to draft Brown in the first round. Brown topped 2000 yards last year at UCONN and is a gifted runner. The Colts will likely use a backfield by committee to try to keep Addai healthy for the full season. Brown should be the 3rd fantasy football rookie taken in your 2009-2010 draft.

4. Michael Crabtree- WR San Francisco 49ers

Crabtree slipped to 10th in the NFL draft. The 49ers could have just stolen the next great NFL wide receiver. Crabree posses all of the skills to be a top wide receiver in this league. He might not put up eye popping numbers this season but remember fantasy football rookie wideouts Desean Jackson and Eddie Royal both made immediate impacts last season. Crabtree is more talented than either of these players. Take Crabtree as the 1st wide receiver from the rookie class taken in your 2009-2010 fantasy football draft.

5. Shonn Greene- RB New York Jets

The New York Jets traded up to get this battering ram out of Iowa. Greene averaged over 6 yards per carry at Iowa with 20 touchdowns last season. I would gamble in your fantasy football rookie draft by taking Greene as the 4th running back selected. Greene is talented and will find a way to make the field. Thomas Jones is aging and we all know whats happened to aging running backs. Greene is a fantasy football sleeper in all drafts for this season and must handcuff for Thomas Jones owners

Best of the Rest

6. Darius Heyward Bey- WR Oakland

7. Lesean McCoy- RB Philadelphia

8. Mark Sanchez- QB New York Jets

9. Hakeem Hicks-WR New York Giants

10. Matt Strafford- QB Detroit Lions

Fantasy Football Rookie MVP- Knowshon Moreno

Best Keeper League QB Prospect- Mark Sanchez

Rookie Sleeper – Donald Brown

Rookie Bust- Jeremy Maclin

The 2009-2010 fantasy football season can be won or lost by fantasy rookies. Remember this happened in 2008. Keep an eye on the preseason and readjust the fantasy football rookie rankings accordingly.
